I have re-scheduled my flight to Dec 30, 2010 the same time finally thanks God!
So this morning i have decided to write down what God has been showing me in this delay
Surrender
In Hebrews 6:14, it is said that
“Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek”.
To be a Christian, truly, is so much more than going to church once or twice a week. Instead, we are called to be a disciple of Christ, with the ultimate purpose to become like Christ. Very true, in an individualistic society, there is always so much emphasis on self, whether it is about my education, my career, or my plan. The priority of Christ and others, very often, falls on a second concern. When I think of Jesus, I just cannot imagine how radical his surrender capacity was. It went beyond caring about his reputation, his appearance, his health, his delight. Instead, it was always about God’s righteousness, God’s beauty, God’s people, God’s Kingdom. I pray that we would re-dedicate ourselves to His sovereignty, His will, and His control. It is no longer about where do we want to work, where do we want to live, or even when do we want to get married. Therefore, even we are called to be a missionary in the most dangerous cities in the world, even we are called to leave our family for a long period of time, as long as we are under the will of God, do you believe that everything will be alright, since we believe that God is our biggest protector?
Be Patient
While I have had been impatient during my wait in re-scheduling, God shows me once again that patience is, undoubtedly, one of the most important lesson to learn in my life. Patience is also a fruit of the Holy Spirit. While I was anxious about if I can get on a flight, make it to the conference, or catch up with aubrey in this valuable opportunity, I can feel that God is working in me, telling me how to be patient, knowing that I will not miss out anything that God has prepared for me, believing that God, who created this universe, holds everything in His hand. To know how to wait is indeed, an inward expression of one’s commitment to other, an outward manifestation of the strength of affection. Patience, can be applied to many aspects, whether it is to wait for the right partner of life, for the guidance of future plans, or even just for the spirit of God to fill the emptiness inside people.
Trust
In this semester, I took two classes in Communication principles. I acknowledged that trust in a biggie in any kind of relationship. Without Trust, there is no relationship; without trust, there is no strong bond. Trust can be applied to friendship, relationship between family members, relationship between couples, and most importantly, Trust involved largely in God-man relationship, allowing for us to relate to a God whom we have not seen. Trust is first step to strong, radical, and divine relationship. Trust also allows us to become spiritually mature step by step. In Hebrews 6, it is said that
“Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And God permitting, we will do so.”
I remember in this past summer, I went to South Africa, largely through faith. Firstly was because I did not have any money. Second of all was because our team had not been to South Africa before. Yet, God provides everything, from money concern to message that are supposed to be delivered to the congregation in church, even to the car accident that occured during our trip over there.
Truly,
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” -- Isaiah 56: 8-11
